Since the first of the year, many companies have become subject to validation inspections after registering or updating their registration with the National Immigration Institute (NII).

This is a recent occurrence, and stems from the fact that companies must now register with NII to receive or renew work permits for foreign employees. As companies have complied by providing lists of all employees and their nationalities, many have received follow-up inspection visits from immigration authorities to verify their registration information.

The process for companies to notify the government of employee termination has also changed: Companies must now update their registration with NII with a new list of employees and their nationalities.
BAL will provide updates as they become available.
