Distribution Agreements which only affect competition/trade in the UK may be excluded from the UK Competition Act 1998 to the extent that they qualify for exclusion under The Competition Act 1998 (Vertical Agreements) Exclusion Order 2000. Distribution agreements which affect EU competition/trade may be exempted from Article 81(1) EC Treaty, which prohibits agreements whose object or effect is the restriction of competition, to the extent that they qualify for exemption under the new EU Distribution Agreements Block Exemption Regulations, No 2790/1999.
