Merger control (Finland): Finnish Market Court extends the deadline for the Finnish Competition Authority’s in-depth investigation of TV4 AB’s acquisition of C More Group AB

The Finnish Market Court has extended the time limit for the Finnish Competition Authority’s in-depth investigation of TV4 AB’s (“TV4”) acquisition of C More Group AB (“C More”) until 24 November 2008. The deadline was extended as negotiations are still needed on a commitment package that would allow the clearance of the acquisition subject to conditions. TV4, which belongs to the Swedish based Bonnier Group, will acquire control over C More in the proposed acquisition. The Bonnier Group is active in Finland through MTV Oy, which offers both free and pay-TV channels to the public. C More, for its part, offers pay-TV channels under the brand Canal+ in Northern Countries.
