Merger control (Finland): Finnish Competition Authority clears proposed acquisition of Dieta Oy by Illinois Tool Works Inc.

The Finnish Competition Authority (“FCA”) has cleared the proposed acquisition of Dieta Oy (“Dieta”) by Illinois Tool Works Inc. (“ITW”). ITW group is active, inter alia, in the design and manufacture of tools for the construction industry and industrial packaging materials. It also designs, manufactures, distributes and services professional kitchen equipment. ITW has six subsidiaries in Finland, none of which are active in the same market as Dieta. Dieta is active in the production and sales of professional kitchen equipment, mainly in Finland. The FCA concluded that the proposed acquisition will not create or strengthen such a dominant market position that would significantly impede effective competition in the Finnish market or in any substantial part thereof.
