INDIA - Quota Lifted on Foreign Workers Across All Industry Sectors
- India
- 07/09/2010
The Indian government has removed the cap on the number of foreigners a company may hire. The quota was previously abolished for Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES) companies in India. (See BAL news from earlier this month here) However, the new guideline applies to all industry sectors. In addition, the government has also removed the minimum salary requirement. Companies and applicants must still meet all other remaining requirements for an employment visa.
BAL Comment
These most recent changes bring good news to companies that hire foreign workers in India. However, even though the quota has been lifted, this information may take time to disseminate through the Indian consular posts worldwide. BAL’s Global Migration Advisors can provide up-to-date information on the most recent list of requirements for an employment visa application at a particular consular post.
