Estonia - Medicinal Products Act Amended

On 18 March 2010, the Riigikogu enacted the Act Amending the Medicinal Products Act and the Health Insurance Act. The amendments specify the requirements for obtaining authorisations for marketing medicinal products, lift some requirements applicable to small town pharmacies and modernise procedures and supervision mechanisms.
In addition, the definition of the retail price of medicinal products has been changed and a uniform procedure for establishing reference prices and price agreements for medicinal products included in the Health Insurance Fund list of medicinal products has been added. The amendments entered into force on 18 April 2010, except for the provisions which shall enter into force on 1 July 2010.
