The governments of China, Singapore and Malaysia will be closed at various times in observance of the Chinese New Year holiday, as well as in observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday. These closures are outlined below.

China: Government offices will be closed February 13th through February 19th in observance of the Chinese New Year holiday and will reopen on February 22nd.

Singapore: Government offices will be closed February 15th and 16th in observance of the Chinese New Year holiday.

Malaysia: Government offices will be closed on February 15th in observance of the Chinese New Year holiday and on February 26th in observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday.

BAL Comment

These government closures will affect in-country offices, as well as the Consulates abroad. Companies should plan with respect to both in-country filings and consular visa applications since these closures could result in increased processing times for applications and/or unexpected delays in visa issuance.
